Game Reports
Given the uncertainty around how our team would be made up this year we have had a solid start to the year. With 1 win and 2 losses (one quite close) I think we can all be very happy. Importantly the improvement we have seen and the willingness to work together as a developing team is what has impressed me most.
With younger players and many new to the game (Josh, Liam, Alex) as a coach, I could not be prouder. The boys have all worked on their skills – and we are now starting to get some fitness. Both of these are essential for us to be the best team we can.
Unfortunately we have been struck with injuries this year (only 1 through footy) and we wish Murray, Flynn, Chayce and Ally speedy recoveries.
I think everyone has been impressed with our skills up forward with Jono leading the way, with Harry our goal sneak capitalizing on our surges forward. This has all come from some great work in the middle with Aaron, Corey, Dan and Jacob (who has been a powerhouse) winning a lot of hard ball. We have had plenty of speed and delivery through Max, Mitch Liam and Ben on the flanks. We have great team players in Toby and Patrick who have moved around the field and done what is required for the team.
Our defence has been rock solid – well led by Ethan and with Angus being a real star for us. Sean and Ally have held their opponents very tightly and Tom Brooks has improved out of site to be a key springboard for us out of the backline.
Our goal is to improve each week and be the best we can – so far we are on track!!
